Uniforms

The way in which we present ourselves through dress and grooming contributes to a school atmosphere that is personally engaging, orderly, and respectful of others. For this reason, Angelus Academy has adopted a simple and attractive uniform for our students. We ask that parents cooperate fully in supporting our dress code.

In order that the students’ attire is “uniform” in color and style, we ask that the standard uniforms (excluding P.E. uniforms) be purchased in person at the local Flynn & O’Hara store (9650 Main Street in Fairfax), or by phone or online from Flynn & O’Hara Uniforms (flynnohara.com). A limited selection of second-hand uniforms is available for purchase at the school. Please make sure that uniforms are kept clean and in a state of good repair and that all uniform items are clearly labeled with the child’s name, especially garments such as sweaters and P.E. uniforms. And please check periodically to make sure your child has not come home with someone else’s sweater, sweatshirt, sweat pants, etc. Parents will be contacted when a student is out of uniform consistently or for an extended period of time.

On days when children are scheduled to attend Mass, girls must wear jumpers or skirts, and boys must wear long pants, even if it is a warm day or a gym/P.E. day. Students should not wear shorts to Mass. For grades 6-8, during warm weather uniform days, a uniform polo shirt may be worn with long pants for boys and with skirts for girls on Mass Day.

Girls Dress Code

Standard Uniform for Grades K-5:

• Navy blue jumper
• White, knit, short- or long-sleeved blouse
• Navy pullover crewneck sweater, cardigan sweater, or sweater vest with school logo
• White above-the-ankle crew socks; navy or white knee socks; or navy or white tights (Please, no athletic-style socks that cover only the foot.)
• Navy, black, or brown dress shoes or saddle shoes with rubber soles (no athletic shoes)

• Navy blue dress shorts with belt (solid-colored black, brown, or navy blue)
• White above-the-ankle socks
• Navy, black, or brown dress shoes or saddle shoes with rubber soles (no athletic shoes)

Optional Warm Weather Uniform for Grades 6-8
(from opening day to November 1st and from May 1st to closing day except on days when Mass in scheduled):

• White mesh knit short-sleeve polo shirt
• Navy blue shorts with belt (solid black, brown, or navy blue)
• White above-the-ankle socks
• Navy, black, or brown dress shoes or saddle shoes with rubber soles (no athletic shoes)

P.E. Uniform:

• Navy blue gym shorts with logo
• Steel gray t-shirt with school logo
• Navy blue sweatpants and sweatshirt with school logo
• White above-the-ankle socks with sneakers

Make-up and nail polish may not be worn at school. Nails are to be kept clean and neatly trimmed.

Girls may wear only the following types of jewelry at school: watches; single pairs of small stud earrings (no dangles; no hoops); and/or small religious medals, crucifixes, or crosses on chains that rest on the chest.

Hair must be kept neat and well-groomed. Bangs must be kept above the eyebrows.  Extreme hairstyles and coloring, highlighting, or streaking of hair are not permitted.

No body piercing or tattoos (other than single-pierced ears for stud earrings) are permitted.

Boys Dress Code

Standard Uniform for Grades K-5:

• Navy blue chinos with belt (solid black, brown, or navy blue)
• White mesh-knit polo shirt (long- or short-sleeved)
• Navy blue or black above-the-ankle dress socks (not athletic-style)
• Navy pullover crew or cardigan sweater or sweater vest with Angelus Academy logo
• Black or brown dress shoes with rubber soles (not athletic-style shoes)

Standard Uniform for Grades 6-8:

• Navy blue chinos with belt (solid black, brown, or navy blue)
• School tie (purchased at school)
• White cotton oxford button-down collar shirt with long or short sleeves
• Navy blue or black above-the-ankle dress (not athletic-style) socks
• Black or brown dress shoes with rubber soles (not athletic-style shoes)
• Navy pullover V-neck or cardigan sweater or sweater vest with school logo

Optional Warm Weather Uniform for Grades K-5
(from opening day to November 1st and from May 1st to closing day except on days when Mass in scheduled):

• White short-sleeved mesh-knit polo shirt
• Navy blue dress shorts with belt (solid black, brown, or navy blue)
• White above-the-ankle socks
• Black or brown dress shoes with rubber soles (not athletic-style shoes)

Optional Warm Weather Uniform for Grades 6-8
(from opening day to November 1st and from May 1st to closing day except on days when Mass in scheduled):

• White mesh-knit short-sleeved polo shirt

• White above-the-ankle socks

PE Uniform:

• Navy blue gym shorts with logo

• White above-the-ankle socks with sneakers

Hair must be kept clean and well-groomed. Bangs must be cut above the eyebrows, and the back of the hair must be cut above the top of the shirt collar. Extreme hairstyles and colored, streaked, or highlighted hair are not permitted.

Nails are to be kept clean and neatly trimmed.

No body piercing or tattoos are permitted.
