Angelus Academy is seeking joyful, faithful, and dedicated candidates who are drawn to the daily work of forming young children in a Catholic classical school environment. Our early childhood classrooms are places where children are invited into wonder, prayer, rich language, beautiful stories, meaningful habits, early academic skills, and the joyful discovery of God’s love and His plan for each child.

We are especially interested in candidates who understand teaching as a vocation and who desire to support parents in their sacred mission as the primary educators of their children. Experience in early childhood education, elementary education, reading/literacy, or a related field is helpful but not required and interest in classical education is welcome. Most importantly, we are looking for candidates who is eager to continue growing professionally and spiritually within a small, faith-filled school community.

Job Description
Angelus Academy, an independent Catholic liberal-arts school that serves students in preschool through eighth grade, is accepting applications for elementary school (K-5th) teaching positions for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. We are located in Northern Virginia, approximately 16 miles from Washington, DC and in the vibrant Diocese of Arlington.

Angelus Academy is a small, faith-filled community of caring educators and supportive parents who are committed to forming the next generation of Catholic faithful. Our small class sizes, unique Salvation History-based curriculum, and dedication to teaching in the classical tradition foster a love of learning, the mastery of skills, and most importantly, a sense of God’s love and His plans for each student. Our school year is enriched by many special events, daily prayer, weekly Mass, and monthly Adoration in our school’s chapel.

Applicants should have a background in early childhood education, elementary education, reading/literacy, or the equivalent. Experience with or an interest in classical education is also beneficial. We welcome novice teachers who share a love of learning and a desire to continue growing professionally and spiritually. We provide ongoing formation to our faculty and supportive mentorship to new teachers.

 

Part-Time Little Messengers Aide, 2026–2027

Job Description
Our Lady’s Little Messengers is a gentle, joyful faith formation program for three- and four-year-old children. Drawing inspiration from Montessori catechetical methods, that blends distinctly Catholic formation with early academic skills through prayer, song, story, Scripture, the liturgy, the lives of the saints, and hands-on materials that help young children grow in wonder, virtue, and love of God.

The Little Messengers Aide will assist the lead teacher in creating a peaceful, nurturing, and orderly classroom environment. Responsibilities include helping with arrival and dismissal, play, snack, clean-up, outdoor time, prayers, songs, stories, classroom activities, and daily routines. The aide will also support children as they practice age-appropriate independence, social skills, listening habits, and virtuous behavior.

Applicants should be patient, warm, dependable, and comfortable supporting a Catholic classroom environment. Experience in early childhood education, childcare, preschool, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, or a Catholic school setting is helpful but not required.

The Little Messengers program meets in the mornings. Current program hours are 8:00 AM–12:00 PM, with the four-year-old program meeting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and the three-year-old program meeting Tuesday and Thursday.

 

Part-Time Music Teacher, 2026–2027

Job Description
The part-time Music Teacher will help students in Kindergarten through fifth grade encounter music joyfully through song, rhythm, movement, listening, and age-appropriate instruments. The goal of the position is to nurture students’ love of music, build basic musical skills, and give children regular opportunities to sing, listen, create, and participate with confidence.

This role may also include opportunities to connect music instruction with Angelus Academy’s Salvation History curriculum, the liturgical year, sacred music, folk songs, poetry, Scripture, and the broader Catholic liberal arts tradition. Performance preparation may be included when appropriate, but the primary focus is joyful participation, musical formation, and wonder.

This position is estimated at approximately 3 hours per week, though the exact schedule and time commitment may vary based on school needs. This role may also be combined with other part-time offerings or responsibilities for a qualified candidate.

Applicants should have a love for music, a gift for working with children, and a willingness to support the mission and Catholic culture of Angelus Academy. Experience teaching music, leading children’s singing, playing piano or another classroom-friendly instrument, or working in a school or parish setting is helpful but not required.
