Infant of Prague

The devotion upon which all our other devotions rest is our love for Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Dating back to the opening of Angelus Academy, this devotion has focused around Christ as the Infant King, especially in devotion to the Infant of Prague.

Our school belongs to Him. He is our great Provider, the reason for this mission. We appeal to Him for all our needs. Our students pray a novena to the Infant of Prague from the 16th through the 25th of every month.

The Feast day for the Infant of Prague varies according to location. The one most often associated with the Holy Infant is the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, now celebrated in the current Roman Calendar on January 3. On this Feast in 1644, the first chapel dedicated to the Infant of Prague was consecrated in Prague. At Angelus Academy the Feast of the Epiphany provides an appropriate opportunity to worship the Infant King.

Prayer to the Infant of Prague

Holy Infant Jesus,
through the intercession of Your Blessed Mother
and all the Holy Angels who rejoiced at your birth,
may we learn to entrust our future to your tender care;
and may our beloved school receive the assistance it needs
to fulfill its mission to make the Truth that You are
take flesh in our lives. Amen.

Holy Infant Jesus,
You have promised that when we ask for the graces we need,
we will always receive them;
that when we seek for Your assistance,
You will never fail to grant it;
and that when we knock at the door of Your Sacred Heart,
You will always open it to us.
Trusting in Your promise, we thank and praise You
for all the blessings You will bestow upon us
and acknowledge You as our Protector and Benefactor.
Reign, little King, in our hearts,
now and forever. Amen

The Angelus

v. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary
r. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
v. Behold the handmaid of the Lord
r. Be it done unto me according to thy Word.
Hail Mary…
v. And the Word was made Flesh
r. And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary…
v. Pray for us O holy Mother of God
r. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.
Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ thy Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross by brought to the glory of his resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
