Feast of St. Joseph
When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord told him to do (Matthew 1:24).
Dear Friend of Angelus Academy,
Over 2000 years ago St. Joseph, after hearing God’s request in a dream, without hesitation took a leap of faith. He took Mary into his home as his wife and became the foster father of the long-awaited Messiah. And then HE GOT TO WORK! He made the treacherous journey to Bethlehem so that Mary could give birth to the Son of God, fulfilling the words of Scripture. He hastened to take the young Holy Family to Egypt in order to save the newborn King from hatred and death. Finally, upon returning to Nazareth, a small unassuming home, he gave all that he had to raise the Lord Jesus. He did all this in quiet obedience, guided by the Holy Spirit.
Over 25 years ago, the Women’s Apostolate to Youth (WAY), like St. Joseph, listened to the call to take a leap of faith. Following divine intercession, they said YES to a mission to open a school dedicated to bringing students and their families drawn there to grow in prayer, sacrifice, leadership, and service. Then, following the example of St. Joseph, THEY GOT TO WORK! With nothing more than faith and perseverance, they formed a Board of Trustees, created a challenging and faith-filled curriculum, hired dedicated staff and faculty, and WAITED to “let the little children come” to Him. And they did – 34 children on September 8, 2000.
The beginnings of the now called Angelus Academy were humble – and still are, just as they were for the Holy Family. Being a mission school, we rely on what the good Lord sends. By placing all our trust in Him, we have been able to provide His little ones with an excellent education, a taste for truth, beauty, and goodness, and most importantly, a love and devotion for their loving Lord and His Church.
But as we know in this world, we need more than faith and perseverance to continue the mission year after year. So we turn to you, our benefactors. The word “benefactor” means “one who makes things well,” and that is what we are asking you to do. You are being called to “get to work” by providing support to God’s little school, Angelus Academy.
As an independent Catholic school, we receive no financial support from the Diocese of Arlington. We are entirely dependent upon tuition–which only partially covers the cost of educating each student–and donations from benefactors like you to meet operating expenses and to keep tuition more affordable for school families.
Please join us and help us raise $110,000 for Angelus Academy. Donations to the St. Joseph Campaign will assist Angelus Academy in following the will of the Father. Through your generosity, we will continue to fulfill His call. May Angelus Academy, by following the example of St. Joseph, lead His little ones to grow in knowledge and faith as He intended. Then may our graduates take their place in society as devoted workers for and followers of Christ.
St. Joseph, pray for us!
Most gratefully yours,
Jane E. Adkins
